The Walking Dead and Supernatural star Jeffrey Dean Morgan has revealed that he really “wants” to play Arthur Morgan in a live-action adaptation of Red Dead Redemption.
He revealed his desire when asked by a fan at a recent convention.
Although he’s got his hands full as Negan in Dead City, he says if the “studio called” him, he’d say yes.
Jeffrey was asked directly if he would be interested in playing Arthur Morgan in a TV series adaptation after it was pointed out how the game adaptation industry is in full swing.
“Would [you] be interested in ever playing a TV adaptation of Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption?” an audience member during Jeffrey’s panel asked him.
“Oh f***, that’s the one I want to do!” Jeffrey answered while filled with instant energy.
He went on to say that it’s “not even a question”, he wants to do it, and as soon as possible.
He added: “One, I mean the only genre… my favourite genre is western.”
“There’s not even a close second.”
“My son plays that game,” he said.
“And it’s freaking awesome!”
He then joked that he would even do it for “free”, telling the crowd he’d do it in a “heartbeat”, however, he jokingly added how he wasn’t being serious about the “free part”.
“Don’t actually f***ing tweet that out,” he joked to the crowd, erupting them with laughter.
“So when the studio call, ‘Well, we heard!’, and then I’d be like, ‘Okay…'” he continued to joke.
He quickly jamp back to the serious side of his answer, telling the questioner: “Yeah, in a second.”
You can watch a clip from the panel below:
Interestingly, Jeffrey’s Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles has also landed himself in fan cast lists for the same character, along with additional names such as Hugh Jackman and Travis Fimmel.
Although a live-action project based on Red Dead Redemption has yet to become a reality, it’s still safe to at least hope for it amid the ongoing announcement count of game series adaptations.
