Adele announces devastating career update as she says 'I will not see you for an incredibly long time'

Adele has shared a devastating update on the future of her career during a live show in Munich.
The 'Someone Like You' singer, 36, is currently nearing the end of a string of residency shows in Las Vegas, with last night's (31 August) performance in Munich marking her final planned concert on European soil.
During the show, Adele took a moment to give fans an update on her future career plans - revealing that she is planning to take an extended break from touring and making music.

Reflecting on her career so far, the 'Easy on Me' singer said: "I’m not the most comfortable performer, I know that, but I am very fucking good at it.

"And I have really enjoyed performing for nearly three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever done and probably the longest I’ll ever do."

The singer then went on to address what's next for her careerwise, and it turns out she's planning to take an extended break.

"I have 10 shows left after this," she continued. "After that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time.

"I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break, and I will fantasise about these shows and any shows that I’ve done over the last three years. It has been amazing, I just need a rest."

“but after that [10 shows in Vegas], i will not see you for an incredibly long time… i just need a rest. i’ve spent the last 7 years building the life for myself, I want to live it now. I want to live my new life I’ve been building” — Adele

She then went on to explain the reason why she decided to take a break, adding that she wanted to spend time living the 'new life' she'd built for herself.

"I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now," she said.

"I will remember these shows for eternity, they have been spectacular."

Adele's tour was originally scheduled to end at Munich's 80,000 capacity Messe Munchen Arena, however, she had to reschedule a series of dates from her Las Vegas residency after falling ill.

Fans were quick to share their well wishes for the singer on social media, with one person writing: "Take all the time you need, live the life you’ve always been dreaming of. We’ll be here when you’re ready."

"Why am I so emotional watching this," a second fan commented, while a third added: "I'm gonna miss her."

Adele has plenty to look forward to during her extended break, with the singer previously announcing her engagement to American sports agent Rich Paul earlier at the Munich shows.

During a performance on 9 August, a fan jokingly proposed to the singer, to which she replied: "I can’t marry you, I’m already getting married.

"But I appreciate it."Featured Image Credit: (Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for AD/Stefanie Keenan/The Hollywood Reporter via Getty Images)

Adele finds it difficult to live in UK due to disorder that affects her
The Brit songstress moved across the pond in 2016

When Adele moved across the pond in 2016, us Brits were pretty chuffed for her - although some saw it as another celeb selling out our wet and windy country in favour of basking in the California sunshine.

The London-born songstress has managed to cling onto her accent, but she is fully embracing the Hollywood lifestyle - and with a Las Vegas residency under her belt, why shouldn't she?

There's plenty of opportunity in the States for UK stars to take advantage of - hence why the likes of the Beckhams, Idris Elba, and James Corden hightailed it over there.

But those lot eventually realised there is no place like home and there's nothing like a roast dinner washed down by a cup of tea off your nan.

On the other hand, Adele has zero intention of returning to her British roots and settling down in her hometown of Tottenham, despite 'really missing' London.

The Grammy-winner is very settled in Los Angeles with her fella Rich Paul, where she snapped up a mansion which is reportedly worth $58 million (£46m) last year.

She previously said she 'could never afford' the kind of house she wanted in London, as UK house prices don't have a patch on the deals to be done on the US property market.

However, she is still homesick - and like a lot of us do when we're missing our motherland, she still gets 'very emotional' when she sticks on her hit song 'Hometown Glory'.

"I really miss London, but I miss the London from before all of this happened in my life," Adele told The Hollywood Reporter.

She said she remembered writing the track 'like it was yesterday' and recalled how she was inspired to put pen to paper after attending her first ever protest.

The mum-of-one recalled: "I wrote it the day after I went to my first ever protest. In London, the UK, we were annoyed at Tony Blair because he was going to war with Iraq.

"It was like a million-people turnout in London, and we're marching, and I was 16, and me and my friend Olivia went. We made our placard, and it felt so powerful."

But it isn't the prospect of running into former Prime Minister Blair which is putting her off returning to the UK.

Adele revealed that she suffers from 'really bad seasonal depression', which is soothed by the sunshine in LA.

The condition, known as seasonal affective disorder (SAD), is a type of depression that comes and goes in a seasonal pattern, according to the NHS.

It is sometimes dubbed 'winter depression' because the symptoms are usually more apparent and more severe during the colder, darker months.

Symptoms include a persistent low mood, irritability, feelings of despair, guilt or worthlessness, decreased sex drive, long periods of sleeping, difficulty concentrating gaining weight and withdrawing from social activity.

Adele explained: "So the weather is good for me here. It is strange sometimes, because I'm very British."

The hitmaker said that living in LA has the added bonus of being 'left alone' by paparazzi and the press, while she has been able to forge true friendships with normal people.

She added: "For anyone that has never been to LA, you assume it would be the opposite. But there are so many famous people here that they don't waste their time.

"And I actually have made a lot of really great core friends. I didn’t think I’d ever have a real friend group here. I don’t want a bunch of celebrities being my friends - well, only [celebrities].

"And [my friends are] actually from L.A., which again, before I moved here, I never met one person who was from L.A. They’re not famous and they’re great. And having a kid at school, I’ve got great mum friends. But I do like it."Featured Image Credit: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images/Allen Berezovsky/Getty Images

Apple announces when Vision Pro will be available in UK and there's not long to wait
It's coming to the UK, but will you see many people with that on their head?

Apple's new Vision Pro headset is due to be released in the UK soon, as the tech company decided to announce the release date and a starting price at their annual developer conference WWDC.

Thus far the Vision Pro has been available only in the US, but pretty soon it'll be on sale in the UK, France, Germany, Australia, Canada, Japan, China, Hong Kong and Singapore.

In case you've missed it, Apple Vision Pro is a wearable computer headset which sticks apps and software in front of your eyes which you control with your hands, eyes and voice.

Americans who've got their hands on this stuff have been demonstrating how it works, and it's not exactly an inconspicuous device to be wearing on your noggin.

Others have warned that they experienced the device having a distorting effect on your vision, as you're seeing the world through Apple's augmented reality display.

While it's been available first in the US, and they've been the ones figuring out the early problems with it, Apple announced at WWDC that they would soon be rolling Vision Pro out to many other countries.

The release date for it to go on sale in the UK is 12 July, and the starting price is set to be £3,499, while the original price it went for in the US was $3,499.

Apple claims they've designed the headset for a more immersive experience in entertainment and gaming, while saying it could also be used to work with other people.

They're not the only tech company working on headsets, as Meta's own Quest gadget is also on the market.

For all that dosh you're buying a very technologically advanced contraption, but do remember that wearable technology usually takes a while to get small enough not to look ridiculous.

“The enthusiasm for Apple Vision Pro has been extraordinary, and we are thrilled to introduce the magic of spatial computing to more customers around the world,” Apple chief executive Tim Cook said.

“We can’t wait for more people to see the impossible become possible, whether working and collaborating with an infinite canvas for apps, reliving treasured memories in three dimensions, watching TV shows and movies in a one-of-a-kind personal cinema, or enjoying brand-new spatial experiences that defy imagination.”

Since launching in the US in February, Apple says more than 2,000 apps have launched for the Vision Pro, while 1.5 million iPhone and iPad apps are also compatible with the headset.Featured Image Credit: Fatih Aktas/Anadolu/Getty Images/Justin Sullivan/Getty Image

Man forced to sew 'I am not an XL Bully' on 8-stone dog after getting 'dirty looks'
Matt Stait says his American bulldog Eddie is being mistaken for an XL Bully

A man has been forced to sew patches that read ‘I am not an XL Bully’ onto the harness of his dog after claiming that people have been avoiding him and his pet whilst out on walks.

American XL Bully dogs have been the source of much controversy recently after a spate of attacks – including a recent suspected attack for which a man has been accused of murder – led politicians to talk about banning the breed altogether.
Owner gets 'I AM NOT AN XL BULLY' patches for dog

However, the speculation about future of the XL Bully has been a problem for one dog owner, who claims that people who would usually stop and interact with his dog now steer well clear, believing it to be an XL Bully.

Ex-bodyguard Matt Stait has noticed this, and decided to let people know that his seven-year-old American bulldog Eddie isn’t an XL Bully at all, despite looking a bit like one.

The 52-year-old says he feels sorry for the ‘affectionate’ dog because he believes he’s been ‘ostracised’ simply because of his looks.

So, he got in touch with a patchmaker on Etsy, who created a design to sort the matter out.

Now, Eddie has two patches that read ‘I AM NOT AN XL BULLY’ in big clear letters.

He hopes that when people read the patches they’ll take a softer stance and maybe even ask about the dog.

Kennedy News and Media
The American bulldog is a breed that dates back to the 17th century, bred for farming and guarding livestock, although many dogs were also used in bull baiting, a bloodsport banned in 1835.

Matt admits that Eddie might have been ‘problematic’ had he not been trained from a puppy, and he believes that compulsory training and checks for owner suitability are key to keeping people safe with dogs.

He said: "Lots of people have confused my dog with an XL bully so I ordered them because I want them to start a conversation.

"We used to get a lot of interest for a positive reason but now it's different. People aren't saying they're avoiding us on purpose but that's what's happening.

"Even the people who know me, know the dog and would previously come over to stroke Eddie would avoid coming near us at all.

"You get a lot of dirty looks and you don't know how much of that is paranoia because they've been reading these stories about attacks.

Kennedy News and Media

"There's always been an element of people picking up their children and small dogs and crossing the street but I'm seeing that more and more now.

"It's a shame for Eddie. He's being ostracised and not getting the opportunity to meet dogs and people in the way he used to.

"I thought that rather than have any confusion or stupid conversations I'd have the patch and hopefully it can create an understanding and I can explain the difference.

"I ordered the patches from a lady off Etsy. It was my idea to do this but there's been an amazing response from people who want them too. I should have ordered a couple of hundred and sold them.

"They just fit on his harness. If I had a bigger harness they'd be bigger but they're perfectly readable from someone a few yards away.

"Some people think it's a brilliant idea and then there's also people who think I should be fighting for all dogs and not trying to dissociate from them. I do get that point of view."

Kennedy News and Media

Matt continued: "Eddie's incredibly affectionate and loving to his family but he's a large dog and bred for farming, utility work and guarding so he will bark at the window when somebody knocks the door.

"He's a large and capable dog and if he hadn't been trained and socialised or given what he needs then I don't doubt that he could be problematic. I'd be lying if I said otherwise.

"Here lies the issue with who should own the dogs and what requirements there should be.

"Overall I'm not for banning specific breeds and I'd look towards licensing and much tighter rules for breeders like compulsory training and suitability checks.

"The dogs don't actually have a voice and unfortunately the people who do have a voice and are loud aren't necessarily informed."Featured Image Credit: Kennedy News and Media

McDonald's bringing 'infamous' US menu item to UK for the first time ever and there's not long to wait
The viral Maccies item will only be on the menu for a short time

For those of us deep in the food trends world of social media, there’s too long a list to mention of products and menu items we’re just desperate to try but realistically, will never get a chance.

From the all-you-can-eat KFC buffet in Japan to the likes of viral cookies and pastries in cities around the world. Or there’s the fictional foods like a Krabby Patty from Spongebob or a plate of Michael’s spaghetti from The Bear.

But it often feels like our dreams simply won’t come true.

Although, McDonald’s might just finally be granting some fans’ wishes as it brings over an ‘infamous’ US menu item to the UK for the first time.

And there’s not long to wait lads as the special shake is set to land in restaurants this month to celebrate McDonald’s UK’s 50th birthday.

Yes, shake. For foodies in the know, or just those of us deep in US memes on TikTok, it might be obvious what this purple drink is. The Grimace Shake, of course.

The legendary shake was first sold in Maccies in the US for a month back in 2023 to celebrate the 52nd birthday of the purple milkshake-loving character from McDonaldland.

We're finally getting the Grimace Shake. (McDonald's)

It then had its second limited run in Canada earlier this year. And now, we’re next.

It’s fair to say the McDonald’s shake went so viral thanks to the #GrimaceShake trend where TikTok users would drink the purple stuff and then film themselves in staged gruesome, weird situations.

But you know, you could just suck it up and enjoy the shake as a tasty drink rather than make weird videos.

Priced at £2.69 for a medium and £2.99 for a large, the Grimace Shake features a blueberry flavoured syrup blended with that popular Maccies creamy milkshake base.

The iconic drink will be available at participating UK restaurants from 28 August until 3 September.

And if you’re desperate to get one earlier, there’ll be a special shake pop up at London’s Box Park Shoreditch from 12pm-6pm on 26 August.

We’ll be getting the Grimace Shake just before the return of the 'best ever' burger.

Yep, it was recently announced that the Philly Cheese Stack is set to come back to McDonald’s UK in September.

This comes after fans ended up petitioning for the burger to be made permanent as they said they were that ‘heartbroken’ over the loss of the cheesy menu item last year.
