Josh Hutcherson recently teased that the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s sequel at Blumhouse will be both “bigger” and “scarier” than the first movie.
The 2023 film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s became the highest-grossing film for Blumhouse Productions upon its release.
The video game is set in Freddy Fazbear‘s Pizza, a creepier version of Chuck-E-Cheese, where an animatronic animal band entertains kids during the day but turns deadly at night.
The main goal is to survive the night while being locked inside, knowing that one of these animatronic creatures could jump out of the darkness at any moment.
The budget for the Five Nights at Freddy’s film was around $20 million.
However, the sequel is expected to be more expensive and grander in scale, given the success of the first film.
In a recent interview with Esquire, Hutcherson revealed what fans can expect from the sequel.
He said, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is much bigger; the stakes are higher.”

“There’s more animatronics being brought in, different animatronics being brought in, and the world just opens up in a big way.”
“We’re finding the balance right now of building this world and expanding it in a really cool way but also making sure the characters stay really grounded.”
He continued, “That’s something that I really think that we all fought for in the first film, because this world that was created in Five Nights at Freddy’s, it’s so out there.”
“It’s so over-the-top and wacky, in a way, that to find the emotional truth of the characters was gonna be what was gonna work.”
He also added, “I think the fans are gonna flip for it.”
“It’s gonna be a lot of fun with the source. It’s gonna be scarier, too, actually.”
When asked if he plans to continue with the franchise after the upcoming sequel.

Hutcherson responded, “You never know. I mean, I love working in this world. Emma Tammi, our director, is phenomenal, and with my character, Mike, I think the possibilities are endless.”
“This could have a very potentially long run and it could be a lot of fun, but at this point, we’re focusing on the second movie. We’ll see what comes after that.”
FNAF movie follows a troubled security guard who takes a job at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, only to discover on his first night that surviving the night shift will be far more difficult than he imagined.
The film stars Josh Hutcherson alongside Matthew Lillard, Mary Stuart Masterson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, and Kat Conner Sterling.
Fans have speculated that characters like Toy Chica and Mangle could appear in a sequel, but their involvement hasn’t been confirmed yet.
