Jenna Ortega has been a successful Hollywood star for some time now, but after starring in Netflix‘s Wednesday in 2022, she has been unmissable.
Ortega has been promoting her latest film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice which hit theatres on September 6th.
In an interview promoting the film, Ortega was asked if she would star in more revivals from the Beetlejuice director Tim Burton.
The Wednesday actor was asked if she would star in a remake of Edward Scissorhands gender-swapped as “Edith Scissorhands”.
“I love that there’s a lot more female leads nowadays, I think that’s so special.”
“But we should have our own.”
As per MTV, Ortega discussed the recasting and gender-bending of James Bond.
“I don’t like it when it’s like a spinoff — I don’t want to see like ‘Jamie Bond.’ You know? I want to see another badass.”

However, the speculation around the swapping of James Bond was soon crushed by the franchise producer Barbara Broccoli, who stated: “I think [the next James Bond] will be a man because I don’t think a woman should play James Bond.”
Similarly, Broccoli shared her views on gender-flipping male characters just like Ortega’s opinion.
“I believe in making characters for women and not just having women play men’s roles. I don’t think there are enough great roles for women, and it’s very important to me that we make movies for women about women. He should be British, so British can be any [ethnicity or race].”
When Oretga’s statements were shared online, many fans agreed in the comments about her outlook.
“Finally an actress is saying it!! The reason so many people have problems with female spin-offs is bc you’re trying to make it into something it’s not. Create original stories and you’ve got a good movie.”
“She’s definitely right. Too bad almost no one can come up with a good franchise about a woman (in America).”
Ortega stars as Astrid Deetz in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, daughter of Winona Ryder‘s Lydia Deetz.
The horror comedy comes 36 years after the original film, with Michael Keaton reprising his role as the trickster ghost himself.

A new instalment in the popular Ocean’s franchise is said to be in early development at Warner Bros and Smokehouse Pictures.
According to Deadline, Brad Pitt and George Clooney are set to reprise their iconic roles as Rusty Ryan and Danny Ocean in the upcoming film, tentatively titled Ocean’s 14.
All Quiet on the Western Front director Edward Berger is in talks to helm the project.
Berger’s involvement would represent a major shift for the franchise, as it would be the first “Ocean’s” film not directed by Steven Soderbergh.
While an official offer has not yet been made to Berger, negotiations are reportedly in the early stages.
While Pitt and Clooney are the only confirmed returning cast members at this point, there’s speculation that other original stars may join the project.
Matt Damon, who played Linus Caldwell in the previous films, has expressed interest in returning.
He earlier said, “If we can get the whole group together and get a good script”.
However, the full original cast can not reunite due to the passing of Bernie Mac in 2008 and Carl Reiner in 2020.
There’s also potential for crossover with the 2018 spinoff Ocean’s 8, with possibilities of appearances from that film’s cast including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Awkwafina, and Rihanna.
In an interview with Uproxx, George Clooney had previously hinted at the possibility of another “Ocean’s” film, stating in late 2023 that a “really good script” was in development.
The project is currently in its early stages, with details about the plot and production timeline yet to be revealed.
The Ocean’s franchise began with the 2001 remake of the 1960 Rat Pack film, starring Clooney as Danny Ocean and Pitt as Rusty Ryan.
The success of Ocean’s Eleven led to two sequels, Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), both featuring the same core cast.
