Some Beetlejuice fans probably don't know the reason why the father from the original film may not have been included in the sequel.
After dropping at the weekend, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is considered to be 'better' than the first Tim Burton movie, which came out in 1988.
The second film sees the return of many cast members from the original, including Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, the treacherous ghost back to cause havoc on the Deetz family.
Now a grown up mum, Winona Ryder comes back into the mix as Lydia Deetz, while Jenna Ortega plays her daughter Astrid Deetz, who accidentally summons Beetlejuice.
Catherine O’Hara also returns as Lydia's stepmother Delia Deetz.
Also joining the franchise for the second film is Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci.
In the first movie, Delia is married to Charles Deetz, played by Jeffrey Jones, who hasn't been included in the sequel.
In Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the film starts with the Deetz family mourning the death of Jones' character at a funeral.
Jeffrey Jones was not involved in the second movie (Warner Bros.)
While the 77-year-old hasn't publicly addressed being left out of the second instalment, it seems that his career trajectory changed after his arrest.
In 2003, Jones pleaded no contest to charges of possession of child pornography and to soliciting a 14-year-old boy to produce sexually explicit images between September 2000 to May 2001.
The actor photographed the boy, and paid him to pose in the nude on multiple occasions, while wearing a cowboy hat and dressed as a Native American.
Jones was sentenced to five years probation, counselling, and told to register himself as a sex offender every year.
"This concludes a really painful chapter in my life," he reportedly said at the time.
"I am sorry that this incident was allowed to occur.
"Such an event has never happened before and it will never happen again."
Jones' career took a different trajectory following his arrest (Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)
However, in both 2004 and 2010, the New York actor was arrested for not updating his status as a sex offender.
The Ferris Bueller's Day Off star subsequently plead guilty and received an additional 250 hours of community service and three years added to his probation period.
Amid the controversy, Jones has still appeared on-screen since, reprising his role as A.W, Merrick in Deadwood: The Movie in 2019.
Meanwhile, fellow Beetlejuice actors Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, who played Adam and Barbara Maitland, also weren't involved in the sequel.

Zendaya gave honest answer when asked about having to film intimate three-way scene in recent movie
Zendaya, who turns 28 this Sunday, made a surprising admission about the saucy scenes
Although most people would probably hope that the intimate three-way scenes they shot in a film never come up in conversation, Zendaya is more than happy to be transparent about her experience on set.
The actress, who is celebrating her 28th birthday this Sunday (1 September), didn't hold back when she was asked to dish the dirt on what getting up close and personal with her co-stars in Challengers was like.
Which all adds up, considering she's a brutally honest Virgo.
Zendaya wasn't even phased when her entire family were left squirming in their seats while watching the saucy scenes at the premiere for the sports film back in April, so an interviewer asking her about them is like water off a duck's back for her.
So here’s another Netflix recommendation that horror fans have said has the ‘scariest children ever seen in a horror movie’.
Viewers have said they’ve been left ‘disturbed’ after watching Tin and Tina, with one person claiming it gave them ‘nightmares for days’ - that’s about all you can ask for from a scary film, isn’t it?
The unnerving Spanish film is set in the 1980s and centres on a newlywed couple Lola and Adolfo who adopt twins Tin and Tina from a convent, where a nun forewarns: “They are unique, special children.”
Unique? Yes. Special? Yes. Creepy? Also yes, because - with it being a horror movie - these are no ordinary twins and their mischievous games take a dark turn, while their ultra-religious upbringing leads to an obsession with sin and the word of the Lord threatens to completely upend the couple’s life.
Oh, and also, let’s be honest - they look creepy as Hell, don’t they? I mean - come on:
Netflix
A brief synopsis reads: “After a traumatic miscarriage, a young couple adopts two peculiar twins from a convent whose obsession with religion soon disturbs the family.”
Tin and Tina, written and directed by Rubin Stein, stars Milena Smit, Jamie Lorente, Carlos González Morollón and Anastasia Russo and is based upon a 2013 short film of the same name, also by Stein.
After a release in Spain, Tin and Tina landed on Netflix, leaving people seriously creeped out and unable to sleep.
Taking to X, one person wrote: “Tin and Tina are literally the scariest children I've ever seen in a horror movie.” High praise indeed, I guess.
Another said: “Watched that Tin and Tina movie last night. It was disturbing and odd. But I think I liked it.”
Netflix
Someone else commented: “A movie hasn’t creeped me out as much in a while until now, Tin and Tina freaked me tf outtttt, anxiety thru the mf roof.”
While a fourth wrote: “Watched Tin and Tina on Netflix. You think The Shining twins were creepy... you ain't seen nothing yet. They utterly creeped me out, and I will have nightmares for days.”
Giving a solid recommendation, someone else said: “This might not get much attention cuz it’s in Spanish but there’s this new Spanish horror movie on Netflix called Tin and Tina… for any horror fans. It’s worth it and it’s good. Reminds me of The Orphanage, The Others and Goodnight Mommy in some way.”
If you fancy checking it out yourself, Tin and Tina is currently streaming on Netflix.

Disturbing Winnie the Pooh horror sequel receives shocking Rotten Tomatoes score
Pooh and his friends are back for another murderous rampage
It’s inevitable – when your favourite children’s TV show makes it’s way to the public domain – someone is going to make a horror film about it.
That is what happened with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, which ended up receiving a 3 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience score of just 50 percent.
This is where the sequel film, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, shockingly comes in.
The shocking detail? It’s actually really good.
The series has completely turned around it’s Rotten Tomatoes score, going from 3 percent for the original to a whopping 89 percent for the sequel at the time of writing.
This event is an incredibly rare score for a low-budget horror movie like this one – where the adage is that a mediocre critic score and a high audience score are the best you can expect.
To put into context the shock of this score, some of the most iconic horror films ever have been blown out the water by Blood and Honey 2.
The original Saw? 50 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
The original Scream? 81 percent.
Even the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre – a classic of the genre – was only able to match Blood and Honey 2’s 89 percent - not beat it.
And critics have been raving about the film which is set to ruin any love of Winnie the Pooh you had from your childhood.
Altitude Film Distribution
Luke Thompson of The AV Club said of the sequel: “This is cinema at its most punk rock—a raucous, unpolished, cheap, sacred-cow shredding middle finger to the mainstream with just enough raw talent inside to keep it from being dismissable.
“Every generation needs its disreputable schlocketeers, and if they rise to bigger opportunities, we all win. Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey 2 should relish the boos, and eschew positive notices, as all punk ought. It gets a qualified thumbs up here, anyway.”
While Molly Henery of The Blogging Banshee was shocked by the uptick in quality.

The star turns 28 on 1 September (Stephane Cardinale - Corbis/Corbis via Getty Images)
For those who don't know, she played tennis prodigy Tashi in Challengers, who ends ends up embroiled in a love triangle with fellow players Art (Mike Faist) and Patrick (Josh O'Connor)...who are also best mates.
Tashi ends up marrying Art, only for her promising career to get cut short due to an injury - so she ends up coaching her hubby to become one of the best tennis players in the world instead.
After he falls into a losing streak, she enters him into a low level tournament to boost his confidence, but he finds himself across from his now former best friend Patrick, who is also Tashi's ex-boyfriend.
Absolute chaos on the courts, really - and if you fancy a refresher, you can have a look at the trailer here:
But basically, amid all this sexual tension, romantic rivalry and tennis, there's a hint of a ménage à trois too - although Zendaya, Faist and O'Connor stopped short of going the whole hog, much to the disappointment of a lot of fans.
Although Tashi may have left the tennis players wanting more, the actress playing her reckons that her abrupt exit during the steamy snogging session was a perfect addition to the plot line.
And as for how she feels about locking lips with her two co-stars, well...she said she 'loved' it.
So you can understand why fans of the couple couldn't stop thinking about her other half Tom Holland might feel about the very cosy moment when the trailer dropped.
But don't worry, as she insists she just sees it as part of her job.
The saucy scenes in Challengers were a big talking point when the trailer for the film dropped (Warner Bros)
Speaking to the Mirror ahead of Challengers release, Zendaya said of the three-way scene: "Tashi is extremely driven. "She's a go-getter and she is totally ruthless.
"The intimate scenes were so good - I loved it. I felt very lucky to be partnered with those guys."
The California-born star continued: "And whatever the moment, it always felt like they always had my back and I had theirs.
"We were so lucky to have a director in Luca Guadagnino who really encouraged us all to collaborate and to bring our own ideas. It was a really exciting creative process."

That is before you even start to consider the possibility of dating someone and sharing your life with them - after seeing all the awful things that someone will do to their ex-partner in the docs.
A new true crime doc has hit Netflix and fans have been left freaked out by it (Netflix)
That is how many fans are feeling after watching a brand new true crime series.
Shooting straight to the top of Netflix the same day it was released, it has got many viewers hooked, but just as many swearing off dating as a result.
It is genuinely and truly understandable, as the true crime doc details some of the most shockingly evil things a partner has ever done to their spouse.
The show is called Worst Ex Ever, and does exactly what it says on the tin.
A spin-off of the wildly successful Worst Roommate Ever, the show is made up of four episodes chronically different ex-partners - all of whom are truly evil.
This is no exaggeration, as over the roughly four hours of content, you will come across a man who lied about his profession then assaulted his girlfriend when she found out, fake charges being brought against someone to delay a rape trial, murder, and even a hitman being hired to try and win a custody battle.
The show details many awful cases involving abusive relationships (Netflix)
It is truly haunting stuff, and therefore the reaction is understandable.
One viewer tweeted: “Worst ex ever just gave me so much confirmation on why I will probably never date again. there’s so much safety in solitude.”
Another said: “The first episode of worst ex ever on netflix is nuts.”
While someone else claimed: “It’s put me off dating for life.”
The first episode, titled 'Dating the Devil' is a particularly awful case which has stood out to many fans for how evil the target of it, Ben Foster, is.
One fan tweeted: “Just started Worst Ex Ever that just came out on Netflix and holy s**t that guy Ben Foster in the first episode is an absolute monster.
