Warning! Spoilers for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice below, read on at your own risk.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is doing pretty damn well at the box office, proving moviegoers will still show up in droves for Tim Burton doing spooky things on screens.
Michael Keaton is back, having secured an agreement that the movie keep the effects as practical as possible, while some - but notably not other members - of the cast of the previous movie have also returned.
All things considered it's going pretty well for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, though some fans are pointing out a detail in the movie which is making them worry that it's a bit more of a problem than it first appears.
Jenna Ortega's character Astrid Deetz is the daughter of Lydia (Winona Ryder), the protagonist of the first Beetlejuice movie.
In the sequel, Astrid gets a possible love interest in the form of Jeremy, who appears to be a kid her age but is actually a ghost who died a couple of decades previously.
Some fans have cottoned onto the timings and ages, noting that if Jeremy looks to be around Astrid's age but has been dead for over 20 years 'that'd put Jeremy in his mid-40s roughly and Astrid round 15-16'.
The trailer for Beetlejuice 2 has arrived.
A sequel to the movie from way back in 1988, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will star Jenna Ortega alongside legends from the film.
Yep, Tim Burton, Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder are all coming back.
Bringing back the iconic world, the sequel sees Lydia (Ryder) still haunted by Beetlejuice (Keaton) while her teen daughter Astrid (Ortega) ‘discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened’.
And, of course, it’s only a matter of time until someone says that iconic name three times and the ‘mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem’.
In the just over one-minute-long teaser, there’s only one line of dialogue: “The juice is loose.” Watch the trailer:
Alongside the Wednesday star, other newcomers to Beetlejuice include stars Monica Bellucci, Arthur Conti, Willem Dafoe and Justin Theroux.
Filming the much-anticipated sequel was halted by the SAG-AFTRA strike last year, with Burton telling The Independent that there was only two more days of shooting left before production.
“I feel grateful we got what we got,” Burton said.
“Literally, it was a day and a half. We know what we have to do. It is 99 per cent done.”
Warner Bros. Pictures
Keaton also said that the legendary director used practical effects in the sequel, similar to the first film, so no CGI here it seems.
“It has to be done as close to the way we made it the first time. Making stuff up, making stuff happen, improvising and riffing, but literally handmade stuff like people creating things with their hands and building something. F**kin’ great,” Keaton told Empire Magazine.
“It’s the most fun I’ve had working on a movie in, I can’t tell you how long.”
During an interview on Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show, Keaton said the sequel ‘is beautiful, physically’.
Warner Bros. Pictures
“The other one was so fun and exciting visually, it’s all that but really beautiful and interestingly emotional here and there,” the star said. “I wasn’t ready for that. It’s great.”
And fans can’t wait for the sequel to drop as they react to the trailer on X.
“JUST KNOW MISS RYDER PUT HER WHOLE WINUSSY INTO THIS FILM IM SAT AND READY,” one writes.
Many echo: “The juice is loose!!!”
As another puts: “This is going to be huge.”

Jenna Ortega had already filmed x rated scenes at 19 as new film causes backlash
Her upcoming movie has caused a stir
Jenna Ortega has caused a stir online thanks to her latest movie role, which sees her on-screen character hooking up with her (much older) teacher, played by Martin Freeman.
Miller’s Game sees the 21-year-old Wednesday star playing student Cairo Sweet who ends up embroiled in a relationship with her teacher Jonathan Miller - played by 52-year-old Freeman.
The official synopsis for the movie directed by Jade Halley Bartlett reads: "A talented young writer (Ortega) embarks on a creative odyssey when her teacher (Freeman) assigns a project that entangles them both in an increasingly complex web.
"As lines blur and their lives intertwine, professor and protégé must confront their darkest selves while straining to preserve their individual sense of purpose and the things they hold most dear."
Some folks have admitted to feeling slightly uncomfortable after seeing some of the steamy scenes play out in the trailer for the new flick - due in part to the large age difference between the two actors.
Lionsgate
But this isn’t the first time Ortega has performed a sex scene with an older star - at aged 19 she appeared in the slasher movie X where she took part in a sex scene with rapper Kid Cudi, who was 37 at the time.
X centres on a group of young adults who go off to Texas to film an adult movie, so as you can imagine there flick has more than its fair share of racy scenes - but was filmed under the guidance of intimacy coordinator Tandi Wright.
In a 2022 interview with Indiewire, Ortega said that Wright was ‘the sweetest, kindest intimacy coordinator in the world’.
While X co-star Brittany Snow said: “I think in the past couple of years, it’s been a prerequisite to any scene that you feel is intimate in any way, even when I’ve kissed someone in a scene, I feel like it should be taken seriously, because I think it needs to be treated mechanically and like a dance. It has to be professional, and the actors have to feel comfortable.

“This is a professional situation. Tandi was so fantastic to work with and made us feel, not only comfortable in terms of our own skin, but comfortable within our characters and really allowing us the space to be who we were supposed to be in that moment, and not thinking about the physicality and the vulnerability of it all.”
Ortega, a former Disney star, revealed that she found the script ‘super enticing’, sharing: “I was really eager to do something that I had never done before and put myself in an environment that was so different from anything I've ever filmed.”Featured Image Credit: A24/Lionsgate

New erotic thriller where Jenna Ortega seduces Martin Freeman has just dropped
It's divided viewers over their age gap
A brand new erotic thriller containing a controversial sex scene between Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman can now be watched in the United Kingdom.
The film is a step in a very different direction for both Ortega and Freeman, with the latter more known for starring in the likes of Sherlock, The Office, Nativity! and Fargo.
And after starting her career on the Disney Channel, Ortega is more commonly found in the horror genre. Credits to her name include Scream, X, and hit show Wednesday over on Netflix.
Lionsgate
Next up for Ortega is a highly anticipated sequel to 80s classic Beetlejuice.
But before we get to that, Ortega, 21, stars opposite Freeman, 52, in this outing brought to us by Point Grey Pictures production.
The film casts Ortega as student Cairo Sweet and Freeman as her teacher, Jonathan Miller.
After becoming somewhat inappropriately close, he tasks Sweet with a creative writing task that sees unexpected results, complicating their relationship that goes significantly beyond anything professional.
The movie is Miller's Girl and was released in the US back on 26 January.
As the film is today (19 February) finally released in the UK, it has left a lot of people wondering why the actors even signed up for the thriller after viewing an erotic scene between the two actors.
In a clip that has gone viral, Freeman slowly bends Ortega over a bed as she holds a book, stroking her silk dress and hair before leaning over to grab her hand and pull their heads together.
It's a scene that is actually narrated by Ortega, but one that hasn't gone down too well with some viewers.
One X user said: "I think I am finally done watching these age gap movies. They are all gross, and I am tired of it. No amount of Jenna Ortega or Martin Freeman could save this one for me."
While another wrote: "What the hell is going on here?"
Lionsgate
A third called it 'gross' and added: "Am I the only one that thinks this is weird?"
The director has since defended her movie though, saying: "Listen, I'd rather people be talking about it than people thinking it's boring.
"As a writer, boring is death. So whether you like it or don't like it, if you're talking about it's done its job. And I think when people, the trailer looks a way, I get it. I get the knee-jerk reaction.
"My hope is that people go in and see that it's more nuanced than that. I hope that people go in and can have grace for characters who are not the binary.
"The perfect victim is boring. It's boring to write. It's boring to be. I think it is dangerous to keep writing women as the perfect victim because it doesn't allow us any agency."
Lionsgate
Intimacy coordinator for the flick, Kristina Arjona, also told the Daily Mail that Ortega was entirely comfortable with the filming process.
She said: "There was many, many people throughout this process, engaging with [Jenna] to make sure that it was consistent with what she was comfortable with, and she was very determined and very sure of what she wanted to do."
Critics weren't too impressed with the film, giving it a 31% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Audience reviews didn't favour too much better, sitting at 42%.

Official trailer for Beetlejuice 2 has dropped
The juice is loose!
After a little teaser arrived earlier this year, the official trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is here.
Alongside the legends of Catherine O'Hara, Michael Keaton, Tim Burton and Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega joins the iconic film's sequel.
Yep, after over 30 years since the original Beetlejuice, the ghost with the most is back for a sequel.
Watch the new trailer here:
Taking us right back into the mad world, this second film sees adult Lydia (Ryder) still being haunted by Beetlejuice (Keaton).
And Ortega plays her teen daughter, Astrid, as she 'discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened’.
So then, as we see in this new trailer, it's only a matter of time until we see Lydia say: "I can't believe I'm doing this...
"Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice."
With the previous teaser trailer only featuring one iconic line of dialogue - 'the juice is loose' - this official one lifts the lid a little further on Ortega's role.

Boy meets girl, but he's also dead and a ghost and about 40-ish (Warner Bros)
Certain viewers were waiting for the movie to 'mention the age gap between Astrid and the ghost boy', but in lieu of that they're mentioning it themselves.
They're finding the age gap between a girl and a ghost to be quite weird considering he's secretly quite a bit older than she is.
Then again, as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice gets going, there's more revelations about Jeremy the ghost to be made which we'll keep a secret in case you've not yet been to a cinema to watch it.
This isn't new to the Beetlejuice movies, as the original film had an age gap where the 'Ghost with the Most' was trying to marry Winona Ryder's character when she was a teenage girl.
There's been plenty of discussion over the years on the age gap in the previous movie (Warner Bros)
He is just doing it so he can have free rein in the mortal world, but things might have changed since then.
In the sequel (and it's a shot that makes it into the trailer) you can see the spooky spirit has still got a picture of her as a teenager on his desk.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice screenwriter Alfred Gough commented on how jarring it could be watching the original, he said: "As you know, when you watch something again 30 years old, you're like, 'Wow! We were all okay with that in the '80s'.
"You forget sometimes, even when you show these movies you love to your kids. You're like, 'Oh! That's a little questionable.' But I think it is fun to not do a couple of those things [in the sequel]."

And it makes it pretty clear what her stance is as she says: "Ghosts aren't real.
"Only gullible people believe that kind of cr*p."
Well, is she in for an absolute shocker.
The Bee Gees are singing 'Tragedy' as the trailer goes on, featuring a glimpse of some of Beetlejuice's typical crazy antics playing out.
William Dafoe also crops up as a ghost detective, with the trailer really ramping up excitement for the film's release in September.
Alongside Ortega and Dafoe, other newcomers to Beetlejuice includes stars Monica Bellucci, Arthur Conti and Justin Theroux.
Fans had been promised that this second film would rely on those classic handcrafted effects that's so Burton-coded and the trailer seems to make it clear that they won't be disappointed.

During an interview on Sirius XM’sThe Jess Cagle Show, Keaton previously called the sequel ‘beautiful, physically’.

And fans are absolutely buzzing after this trailer, writing on X: "After all these years, we're running to theatres!"
Another wrote: "It looks like Tim is BACK BACK," as plenty are 'ready to get their tickets'.
One even added: "I loved this trailer so much the best trailer ever," as people say it 'looks fantastic'.
